Patriot Guard members holding flags in a flag line at Houston National Cemetery

Our primary mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen heroes including Killed In Action (KIA), Active Duty (AD), veterans, law enforcement and first responders, but we also provide many other services. Here are a few of them …

Funeral Services

As requested by the family, we can provide a flag line at the funeral location. Depending on weather and Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) support, we may be able to provide a rolling tribute of flag bikes from the funeral location to the hero’s final resting place. We can then provide a flag line for the graveside service, at which time a plaque and condolence card are presented to the family. All of this is done with the greatest respect and a minimum of intrusion.

Welcome Home

Whenever a service member is honorably discharged or comes home after a deployment, we can provide a flag line at the service member’s home, at an airport, etc., to help greet the returning person. Circumstances will differ depending on the location, parking, etc. but the basic idea is to greet the returning service member and show the person that we appreciate his or her service. It is a great way to welcome someone home after they have made such a sacrifice for the rest of us.

New Home Presentation

When a wounded service member is given a new home, we can provide a flag line for the presentation ceremony. Our mission in this case is to express respect and appreciation for the person’s sacrifice on our behalf. Again, circumstances will differ depending on the location, parking, etc., but the basic premise will always be the same.

Other Services

Other services that we provide include assistance, fund-raising and support for Camp Hope, the home for service members with PTSD. We also assist Rolling Thunder with setting up and taking down displays at various functions. And, although it is not an official PGR function, many of us participate in the annual Texas Honor Ride to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Texas Honor Ride is an annual event to raise funds and support for wounded service members who are recovering from their injuries.

Requests

If you have a function that seems to be appropriate for PGR but does not fit in one of the above categories, email us. We may not be able to fulfill a request for various reasons, but there is nothing we won’t at least consider.
